Our roots lie in supporting the humble cotton farmers; therefore, it was natural for us to choose Fair Trade and become an active supporter of the Fairtrade International system, which focuses on farmers in countries like India who depend on cotton for their livelihood.

With Fairtrade we share common values and thoughts that are an ethical guide for us.

We started with the certification against the Fairtrade Cotton Standard and decided to become a pilot partner of the latest and groundbreaking standard in 2016: Fairtrade Textile Standard. In November 2019, we became the first textile producer worldwide, which received this certification.

Founder & Managing Director

"At Purecotz we follow the path of continuous improvement with the aim of achieving a balance between economic, ecological and social sustainability.  For us, the Fairtrade with its standards is a signpost and source of inspiration."

Purecotz processes organic cotton and believes strongly in the impact this has on the planet and people.

That‘s not enough. Thus, we find the combination of Fairtrade and organic cotton the best, because the farmers benefit twice.

We encourage you to jump on the Fairtrade bandwagon and rely on organic and Fairtrade in purchasing so that you can share the pride and dignity of the people involved in this sustainable supply chain.

Sustainability Manager & Fairtrade Officer

Jan Eggers

"Whatever we do is related to humans and relations. The time for acting is now! All people who make your garments should be valued and treated fairly, as well as with respect. This appreciation is directly linked to a living income and not a poverty wage."

Energy Efficiency

Since 2016 we are using solar energy to reduce our dependence from thermal energy sources, which are used by local energy suppliers. As of 2019, our solar system can produce a maximum of 74 kWp. We switched to LED lights in our factory.

Water Efficiency

The groundwater we are using for washing of our fabrics is pretreated and retreated after using; therefore, we are running an ETP + STP system. We partly reuse our treated water for flushing.

Chemical Management

In the printing and washing process, we only use GOTS certified chemicals. We reuse the leftover printing chemicals for the mixing of new colours.

Pollution Reduction

All our facilities are periodically audited and certified by the pollution control authority of India.

Organic Materials

GOTS and Fairtrade certified organic cotton is our main material, besides organic wool

Environmentally Friendly Materials (Excluding Organic)

We are focusing on natural fibres. Next to our organic cotton, we use Tencel, bamboo blends, linen, hemp, and wool. The yarn is ordered according to the exact amount needed for the garments being made. Purecotz does not use any plastic fibres.

Animal Friendly

We are focusing on organic cotton or when requested responsible wool. As our policy, we strictly don´t process any animal by-products like leather.

Sustainable Business Model

We are fully certified under Fairtrade Cotton & GOTS. Since November 2019 Purecotz is the worldwide first manufacturer, that is certified under der Fairtrade Textile Standard. We intend to pay living wages to all our workers until 2025.

As a fully dedicated Fairtrade certified producer, we work for partnerships, based on dialogue, transparency, and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade.

Decent Working Conditions

As a social compliance-oriented company we always keep an eye on working conditions, we implemented several policies and installed different committees to ensure that every worker is working under fair conditions.

Ethical Sourcing & Supply Chain Management

We try to source as much as possible from India to support the Indian textile industry. With our suppliers, we maintain long-term partnerships, which are based on mutual respect and trust.
